Resilience takes courage, strength, and wisdom. It is not just the ability to persevere but the ability to become stronger and wiser than you were before.
Unless you have been living under a rock, you have seen the movie, Rocky, at some point in your life. Whether starring Sylvester Stallone or Michael B. Jordan, the movie resonates with our spirit in one way or another. You can probably recall being blindsided by a punch or hit in the gut so hard by life events that you felt like throwing in the towel. It might have been a job loss, betrayal, sickness, financial hardships, abuse or even this pandemic. Sometimes life can feel as if everything is falling apart all at once.
"I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it." ~ Maya Angelou
For this challenge, every month we choose a word of the month and this month we chose: RESILIENCE.
One thing we can all agree on is that life can and will be challenging and unpredictable. In order to overcome the obstacles life throws our way, we have to be resilient. Being resilient does not mean being Teflon Tommy or No Emotions Naomi. Being resilient means first being willing to learn, grow, and change. It means being courageous enough to be open and vulnerable with your fears, needs, and pain.
Being resilient means taking the things you learn about yourself, people, and life to become wiser, and therefore make better choices. It means to not give up. It is refusing to back down. It means to keep pushing forward against the odds, the naysayers, and the haters.
In being resilient you find your VOICE. You find your POWER. And eventually, you find YOU.
Resilience=tough 💪🏿
