Walk, Jog, Run - Which one is best for you?

I can't stand running. Yes, I'm the person that would rather walk two hours than run for 20 minutes. Can anyone relate?

Maybe it's due to my lungs feeling they are about to burst or being drenched in sweat afterwards but it's just not my cup of tea. This is why I love this 5K challenge. The goal of the challenge is to start moving and keep moving.

"If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

In order to keep moving, you have to pick a physical activity that you know you'll enjoy and will continue to do. For me, that's walking. I love walking because it allows me to do multiple things at once. I can listen to music, a podcast or even a book. I can hold a conversation with a walking buddy or even take a business call.

You might be a jogger or a sprinter or some combination of walk, jog, run. Whatever you prefer, do what is best for where you are physically and mentally. Yep, I said mentally. Over the years, I've learned that I've psyched myself out of activities that seem too strenuous or intimidating. I would come up with excuses, procrastinate or just give up.

But if I tell myself to go on a walk, my brain falls in line. If my brain feels something is out of reach or arduous, it goes into protection mode and flight response kicks in. So when it comes to you, do what is best for you and leave other people's opinions of what you should be doing behind. Remember, what other people think of you is none of your business:)
